- My first trip to India, at seventeen, was the beginning of a love affair that transformed into a continious discovery.
As a designer I have been working with Indian rug manufacturers for 14 years. Together, we work daily to reinvent and expand this craft heritage.

Ksenia Stanishevski, founder

India´s long and proud tradition of weaving, well established facilities s and highly skilled craftsmen enable us to push the borders of the traditional craft into reinventing the rug as an art piece.

We are delighted by to partake in this cultural and professional exchange. Volver blends Scandinavian practicality and artistic individuality with superb craftmanship, a vibrancy of colors and fibre textures.

HAND KNOTTED  A vertical warp is suspended on a loom. To create the surface of a rug, an artisian individually makes a knot on each thread of a warp, row by row. The type and thickness of a knot defines the quality. The quality increases with the number of knots per square meter. Hand knotting allows production of highly detailed designs.

HAND TUFTED  Yarn is inserted into a cotton base by a pistol-like device and is fastened with latex. The yarn is then shaven and cut by hand. It allows to produce high pile rugs and scuplted surfaces.

HAND LOOMED  An artisian intersects longtidudinal threads (the warp) with stransverse threads (the weft).

Working from the bottom to the top, the craftsmen create different patterns.

We work only with natural fibres, such as New Zealand wool, fine Indian wool, silk, bamboo viscose, wool felt and jute.

The quality and properties of the fibres are determined according to diameter of the fibre, the color, strength, crimp and yield.

In our palette we operate with 75 types of yarn, 30 natural shades and 1200 colors. This provides us with a wide creative playground.

Each rug is a result of a team work by designers, suppliers, craftsmen and managers.
The process has many stages and involves several specialists troughout the value chain.
Design and manufacturing go hand in hand with physical prototyping as a sentral task. This ensures the best match between the artistic idea and the technical quality.

After several rounds the approved prototype is a benchmark for streamlined production.
